President's Corner

Greetings from JCSU 100 Club President, Mickel Roseborough, Class of ‘78 Many of you may know me as “Cheese”, a native of Columbia, SC. It is a pleasure and an honor to serve as the JCSU 100 Club President for 2020 – 2022. As a former athlete who attended JCSU on a football scholarship, it is a rewarding and exciting experience to lead an organization whose focus is to provide funds to assist the athletic program and student-athletes at Johnson C. Smith University.

Many of the individuals who participate as financial members or donors to the JCSU 100 Club were afforded the opportunity to play collegiate sports and complete their college education without worrying about finances. We want to continue to develop ways to provide financial resources to as many athletes as we can to pay it forward. If you also have an earnest desire to help today’s young adults appreciate the benefits of earning a degree while participating in collegiate sports, I would love to see you at a 1) meeting, 2) support our fund-raising activities and most of all, 3) as a member.

There’s a role for all who support student-athletes at Johnson C. Smith University through existing events or helping to plan new ones. Take a look at the website and Facebook page to see our different endeavors. Each year we have given the University athletic program a sizeable donation and contributed to our Endowment Scholarship. But it can’t be done without your support and leadership on a Committee. I look forward to working with you and placing your photos on the Past and Present Video!

Our Mission

The JCSU 100 Club is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established to generate funds for Johnson C. Smith University athletics. It provides a tangible way for Golden Bulls fans to show their loyalty and commitment to JCSU student-athletes and the University’s 15 sports.

The original 100 Club was organized in 1966 by James “Jimmy” McKee, who expressed an interest in creating a means to support Johnson C. Smith University or to help with community projects during a conversation with friends. As a result, the 100 Club was organized to help JCSU celebrate its 100th year. Each member of the group was asked to contribute $500 to the Centennial Fund. At that time, the 100 Club had 34 members. Membership opened to women in 1996.

Today, the JCSU 100 Club raises funds to support the Department of Athletics by supplementing funds allocated to the department by the University. A minimum annual donation of $150 is required to be a member. Members may give cash gifts and raise funds through the Club’s annual fundraisers. The JCSU 100 Club has over 100 active members, businesses and organizations.

History Of
JCSU 100 CLUB

The next few years will be critical for JCSU as the financial costs of developing and maintaining winning programs continue to rise. It is essential that alumni and friends help provide the necessary resources for all JCSU sports teams to meet the difficult challenge of competing for CIAA championships each year. Your contribution will not only help fund the JCSU 100 Club Educational Endowment Scholarship but also provides scholarships for student-athletes as well as equipment and other resources to enhance athletic programs.
